THE SANDMAN

"I fall asleep and let the Sandman come to me. He arrives and gently guides me into my subconscious, where dreams serve as the messengers that populate my night. These dreams stay with me upon waking, their imagery subtly appearing throughout the day before gradually fading away."
The Sandman series consists of 16 pieces, each crafted with sand on fabric canvas and framed with thread. This series explores the symbolic language of dreams, using mine as the basis to transcribe these nocturnal visions.
I developed an alphabet of abstract and semi-abstract graphics to represent the symbols that appeared in my dreams, with each symbol corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. These symbols capture recurring elements from my dreams, such as a person, a vehicle, an object, or an emotion. Using this unique alphabet, I translate my dreams into a visual language.
The fabric canvas is of a similar color to the sand, reflecting the fleeting and ephemeral nature of dreams. The edges of each canvas are woven with thread, framing and preserving these dreams forever.
