A jade bead slipped into the wool. Then another, and others, into other pieces of wool.

In 13 à la douzaine (Thirteen to the Dozen), we play hide-and-seek, but that is not the whole game.
The jade beads lead the wool by the nose. Within the wool’s irregular forms, they have also hidden a rule that reveals itself only to those who take the time to look for it.

We look, we search, we count. But in 13 à la douzaine, the numbers never quite add up.
