Brownstones are not only brown!

​

These houses so popular, so dear to New York have been called Brownstones because of the brown Triassic-Jurassic sandstone they have been made of.

 

Most of them are brown, indeed, but  you can find them painted with all the colors of the rainbow if you look for it.

 

Here is a sample of them on my street, 126th street in Harlem.
