THE WINDOW
2021
White Sand National Park, New Mexico. I walk into a vast white desert, a place that certainly transports me elsewhere. It feels like I’m on another planet with a lunar landscape. Only a few colors mingle with it: shades of white and blue, sometimes touches of ochre and green.
Signs of life are present, a few plants discreetly spring up here and there, like tufts of hair, shaggy on the dunes.
It's almost a paradise but something dissonant prevents me from believing that it is real.
The silence is deafening.
The cold engulfs me despite the blue sky and strong light which indicates the presence of the sun. I feel like I have entered an abyss. Even though this place is beautiful, something distressing grips me. I am like a prize in a trap. The cost for the beauty of this place? I have to get out. But how or where should I go?
