THE GREAT ESCAPE

2025

I’ve always felt like an egg yolk trying to escape. Not only from the shell that must be broken, but also from the soft, padded white from which one must loosen oneself.

The shell—rigid, structured like the systems that shape us: education, cultural expectations, social norms—offers both protection and limitation. The white, gentle and comforting, is a space of safety, yet it can also become a place of inertia, numbing us, a familiar zone that holds us back. It embodies the intimate sphere — family, friends, attachments — which offers reassurance but can also slow the impulse to depart.

The yolk, the very essence, longs to break free from both. It wants to explore, to exist outside of predetermined contours, and to invent its own path.

This series reflects that inner tension: how can we free ourselves from what both soothes and confines? How can we break away from what sustains us, without severing ties with ourselves?

I explore that fragile moment when the need to step away arises—without denying what has carried us. What protects can also restrain; what nourishes can sometimes lull us to sleep. Between the urge to rupture and the resistance of established forms, I seek a passage.

I’m drawn to that impulse for movement, the shift that pushes us to leave a framework, a role, a familiar shape. It’s not about rejection, but about loosening the ties. About tracing a path of one’s own—shifting, fluid—beyond fixed definitions.

Each piece becomes a state of transition—between attachment and release, between weight and emergence, between inheritance and self-invention.
